Rosacea / Redness
Rosacea or redness is a skin disorder that primarily affects the face. It has different symptoms but the primary signs are flushing, persistent redness, sensitivity, bumps, pimples and visible blood vessels. There is no known cause of rosacea and, although there is no cure, laser and light treatments have proved to be an effective method of reducing the symptoms of rosacea.
Rosecea does cause a great deal of discomfort and sufferers often have confidence issues and low self-esteem.
However, thanks to advancements in laser and light technology, rosacea is a condition sufferers need no longer endure. At Silk Skin Laser Care Clinic we offer the latest laser and light treatments to control and reverse the appearance of rosacea, helping to restore your skin’s radiance and texture and help overcome the emotional and psychological problems often associated with this condition.
Frequently asked questions about rosacea / redness treatment
How does the rosacea / redness treatment work?
Laser and light treatments can safely treat rosacea. The vessels are heated by laser or light in order to cause thermal coagulation with minimal disruption to the surrounding skin. Following treatment, the disrupted vessels are absorbed and processed by the body. This results in a reduction in redness and flushing.
How is the rosacea / redness treatment carried out?
During your consultation with a qualified nurse, a treatment procedure will be tailored specifically to you. A laser and light applicator is placed onto the skin and a short pulse of light is released. The hand piece is then moved to the neighbouring area and the process is repeated until the entire area is treated.
Am I suitable for rosacea / redness treatment?
Most people are suitable for treatment. We recommend a full consultation with one of our qualified nurses to ascertain your suitability and tailor the treatment to your needs.
How does the rosacea / redness treatment feel?
Treatment can be mildly uncomfortable but no anaesthesia is required and most people describe the discomfort as moderate and acceptable.
What can I expect after the rosacea / redness treatment?
Redness and swelling can be experienced after your treatment. This is normal and cooling is applied to calm and sooth the skin. The treated area may feel warm and sensitive for the first few hours after treatment.
How long does each rosacea / redness treatment take?
Treatment times can vary but typically take between 30 to 45 minutes.
How many rosacea / redness treatments are necessary?
The number of treatments will depend on the severity of the rosacea but typically 6 to 8 sessions are required at 4 to 6 week intervals.
Are there any side effects of rosacea / redness treatment?
The skin surrounding the lesion may become red after treatment. Most people experience no side effects and the redness usually disappears within hours to a few days.
Prior to treatment, one of our qualified nurses will conduct a consultation and take your medical history in confidence to confirm whether you are suitable for treatment. This is also a good opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have. Before treatment commences you must provide your written consent.
